Beach Football To Brew Up In Miramar

by Fel Gorospe

Gideon “Gido” Diestro, the sports and recreation advisor of the event management company KAIZEN based in Guam, USA,  visited the affair of IIocos Football Association (IFA) on Saturday, 10th August 2013. He was invited by Coach Bobby de Jesus to grace the event.

Early this month, Gido paid a visit to Coach Bobby to extend an invitation for IFA to take part in the 2014 Youth Games in Guam, USA in the month of May.  The company he is representing, Kaizen, is the event manager for the said Games.  Coach Bobby warmly welcomed the invitation as it is already a big privilege to be invited in such prestigious event. Mr. Felicisimo P. Gorospe will  head the Philippine delegation during the Games.

As an advance proceeding to the said Games, Coach Bobby will be attending a grassroots seminar on August 21 in Guam.  He will also meet the Ilocano community in Guam to tap their support for IFA’s activities as well as for the Philippine delegation to the May 2014 sporting event in Guam.

Interestingly, while Gido was at Ilocos last weekend, he saw the potential of turning Brgy. Miramar as a beach football haven of the country.  Himself an avid promoter of beach football, he enthused that he will help IFA a beach football international competition in the area.  He also said that he could ask the Guam football association to donate line markers for the field.  The tentative date for this planned beach football competition is January next year. The competition is for players’ 15 years old and under.

Beach Football will mark another exciting happening to unfold in Magsingal!!!
