MOGR Inniliw 2015: Truly an Event to Remember

by Vic A

We arrived in Las Vegas a day before the event.  This was the day when most of the attendees are arriving in the Sin City.  The atmosphere was electric.  This is my first time in the city and I am finally meeting town mates and relatives who I have not seen in such a long time.  It was the culmination of a 2-year planning and preparation.

The interesting thing is, I haven't even met most of the members of the organising committee. The only common denominator we had was our desire to create this 'never-attempted-before' event. We planned and organised this event mainly electronically - that is, via emails, social media and the occasional voice calls.  But I must say, the perseverance and commitment of this organising committee and the longing of our kailians around the world to come together and enjoy this rare occasion were the real reasons why the MOGR 2015 came to fruition.

New MOGR Committee Chairs & Co-Chairs

by Vic A

Before the end of 2013, Manong Nestor Viloria & Manang Evy Dayda tendered their resignation as Co-Chair and Chair of their respective committees.

We had to seek willing volunteers to take their place.  For expedience, we tried to tap the local Las Vegas kailians to head up the Program/Event Activities Committee.  However, work commitments seem to be the common hurdle.  Fortunately for MOGR, Manong Ray Pichay from Southern California volunteered to chair the Program/Event Activities Committee.

Manang Gloria Ulangca Butac volunteered to co-chair the Souvenir Book & Solicitation Committee, while Manang Grace Panlasigui Lu agreed to co-chair the Finance Committee.

MOGR Pre-Payments as of Dec 31, 2013

by Vic A

Out of over 600 Magsingalenos who signified their interest to attend the MOGR, there are 34 who have paid their 2-nights dinner tickets as of December 31, 2013.  We also have 5 Magsingalenos who have paid a full-page ad in the Souvenir Program.  Thank you very much for these 'early birds'.

We have encouraged the over 600 Magsingalenos to pre-pay before the end of 2013 because starting January 1, 2014, it will be on a 'first-pay-first-served' basis.  Which means that we will disregard the previous list that contains the over 600 registered names.  From here on in, we will only put on the list the names of people who have paid.

If you are planning to attend, please don't wait too long.  All you need to do is make your pre-payment and your name will be included in the official list of 'paid attendees'.   This is the only way you will be guaranteed a spot.

For more information on how you can make your pre-payments, please read here.

Inniliw Payment Methods

by Grace Panlasigui Lu

Many of you still seem unclear on how you can pay for your dinner tickets for the MOGR, so here is how you can make your payments.

When paying via check, please make check payable to any 2 of the following 3 MOGR coordinators:
   1.  Divina Gracia P. Lu
   2.  Juliet Atanaya-Harris or
   3.  Tereso U. Ugalino

Please mail/post your checks to the following MOGR service address:
   Divina Gracia P. Lu
   Attention:  MOGR 2015
   3638 Hendrix Dr.

Please DO NOT make check payable to MOGR because our bank will dishonor it.  On the memo line, please indicate MOGR Dinner for 1, 2, 3 (or whatever # of seats you are paying for).

Cost is $55/person/night or $110/person for the two-night events on April 17-18, 2015 (Friday and Saturday).

If you prefer to make your payments bank to bank or via Western Union (instead of issuing a check), just send me a private message (PM) for the bank details.

MOGR Committees

by Vic A

The Steering Group has come together in the last few days and saw the addition of the following Steering Group members into the existing group:

Glo F - San Julian
Nestor V - San Vicente
Evy D - San Clemente

The different committees that will plan and make our MOGR event happen were also formed, and the chair and co-chair of each committee appointed by the Steering Group.

We are still in the process of looking for more willing volunteers to be part of the different committees. If you are happy to volunteer your time and skills as a committee member and have fun in the process of doing your very important contribution to this event, then MOGR needs you.

As we say here in MOGR, "More el-ellek and less dildillaw".

The 4 different committees will be responsible and accountable for their specific duties that will contribute to the success of our MOGR event.

MOGR: Pre-payments

by Tereso Ugalino

In less than 2 months, we have 350 attendees who have excitedly registered to our event. There is no doubt that we will be hitting 500 very soon.  Thanks to all of you who have happily and eagerly invited your friends and relatives to our first-ever Magsingal Overseas Global Reunion (MOGR).

While our event is 2 years away, I would like to encourage you to make your pre-payments at your earliest convenience to avoid the mad rush leading up to the event.

Let me just explain why we welcome pre-payments as early as now.

Firstly, we want to ensure some level of “seriousness” in your intention to attend.  I know that many of you are saying - it’s a long way away.  However, we also know that it is not that easy to collect payments especially that we are all far apart.  The reason we are planning this way ahead of time is to make it as stress-free as we can for our volunteer-coordinators.

Secondly, our event venue needs a guaranty on the number of attendees and requires us to pre-pay the corresponding costs, 60-90 days before our event.  For us to comfortably meet this requirement, all your seat reservations need to be fully paid by November 30, 2014.

MOGR 2015 Date and Venue

by Tereso Ugalino
(on behalf of the MOGR 2015 Steering Committee & Coordinators)

We have taken off!

I am very happy to say that we have officially secured a venue for our Magsingal Overseas Global Reunion (MOGR) “Inniliw” 2015.  Now you can be assured that we will be working towards a globally-connected, inclusive and fun-filled event.

We will be keeping you in the loop with regular updates but the following are the initial key points of our event:

Date:     April 17-18, 2015
Venue:  Gold Coast Hotel & Casino, 4000 W. Flamingo Road, Las Vegas, NV 89103

A.  2-Night Event

We have decided that this will be a 2-night event.  While we still have to brainstorm, discuss and finalize the themes of the 2-night events, MOGR has now secured a ballroom that could accommodate up to 550 people on a sit-down dinner set-up of 10 people per table, with enough room allotted as a dance floor.

We will charge $55 per night per person as entry fee to the event.  This entry fee will cover for the dinner cost + incidental costs + a small portion as your donation.  Which means that for the two nights, you will need to pre-pay $110 per head to secure your spot for the events.

We will be working with the local coordinators on what the best way is to make these pre-payments.  One idea is to pool all payments coming from one geographic location, then send it through as a group (this will minimize bank fees).  We will set up a bank account where you can transfer your pre-payments and will let you know once we are ready to receive these pre-payments.

Magsingal Overseas Global Reunion (Inniliw) 2015

by Tereso Ugalino

Calling all our fellow Magsingalenos all around the world.

Our kakailians are longing for an overseas Global Reunion/Inniliw.  Through text messaging yesterday, the presidents of Magsingal Organization of America (MOA) - yours truly, Magsingal Association of Hawaii (MAH) - Armi O. Farinas and Magsingal Association of Southern California (MASC) - Nemee  I.Ruaburo has come to terms to initiate the above subject. Magsingal Association of Northern California (MANC)-Cece Ponce-Rosario is out of the country but has been notified. Upon her return, I'm very optimistic that she would respond positively.

As a starter, early coordinators were hand picked based on their receptiveness.  For now, your kailians are ready to act and in high alerts:

MOA- Atty. Gloria  A. Florendo, Grace Panlasigui-LU, Claire Ulibas-Bombita & me + more
MAH- Armi Oliver-Farinas and Gloria Ulangca-Butac + more to follow
MASC- Nemee Isaguerre-Ruaburo and Nostriano "Jun" U. Luczon + more to follow
MANC-Cece Ponce-Rosario and Manang Angie Quintua-Casas + more

We will be posting further details about the venue and activities so watch this space.  We hope that you consider joining us.

Cheers!!!
