A Certified Asian Hero

CANADA – The Southeast Asia-Canada Business Council (SEABC) thru its Charity Arm, Canada – Asia Socio Economic Foundation named this year’s awardees of 2nd Asian Heroes Gala.  Seven (7) recipients were recognized including Chairman Emeritus Mr. Felicisimo P. Gorospe of VGent Group of Companies. Awarding ceremonies was held at River Rock Resort Hotels, River Road, Richmond, British Colombia, Canada on September 17, 2011.

Being the only Asian Hero from the Philippines, Mr. Felicisimo Gorospe or simply known as “FPG,” chosen by the Board of Judges by the award-giving body because of his numerous humanitarian and socio-civic efforts to alleviate the standards of living of the Filipinos. 

Among his notable contributions considered by the committee include: supporting hundreds of underprivileged but deserving scholars for ten years; pioneering on cutting edge environment technology supporting green movements in the Philippines; instituted several livelihood projects elevating the lives of marginalized sector; helping build infrastructures and other facilities in Miramar, Magsingal, Ilocos Sur; and establishing trade relations with the Slovak Republic to increase exponentially trade and international relations of the Philippines to Europe.

Other Asian Heroes awardees include Pheobe Carantes of Afghanistan; Kint Raj of India; Yani Lim of Indonesia; Nourri al Hassani of Iraq; Tin Yee of Myanmar and Derek Koch of Thailand.

In an interview by ABS-CBN News in Canada, Mr. Felicisimo Gorospe said, “I'm preparing the trust fund so that even if we will no longer be around, the earnings from the trust fund will be sufficient to continue the project.”

Ms. Erlinda Gorospe, wife of Mr. Felicisimo Gorospe, congratulated her husband saying, “I am so proud of my husband’s countless achievements.  Last year, he received Most Outstanding Alumnus of the University of Northern Philippines in Vigan City and this year it’s him being an Asian Hero.”

Recently, Mr. Felicisimo P. Gorospe inaugurated his newest infrastructure program, IFA Football Field situated in Brgy. Miramar, Magsingal, Ilocos Sur, promises to discover world-class Filipino athletes in Ilocos Sur.
