Magsingal Association of Hawaii (MAH) in Action

by Armi Oliver Farinas
(President, Magsingal Association of Hawaii, 2012-2016)

The Magsingal Association of Hawaii (MAH) thrives and strides to stay on track with its Goals and Objectives.  MAH continuously provides scholarships-full tuition, books, uniform and transportation allowance, to its eight (8) college scholars at the University of Northern Philippines, Vigan, Ilocos Sur,  and presently two scholars in Hawaii.  MAH performs Community Service – Feeds the Homeless, Adopt-a-Highway, supports Oahu Filipino Community Council (OFCC), its umbrella organization; and contribute “financial help” – donates to victims of calamities; and participates in many community initiatives and events.

MAH “reinforced” all the above goals because of the members and friends continuous support to MAH.  The efforts of ALL Mrs. Magsingal Queens and Royal Court, supported by the dancers, donors and ALL of members and friends made MAH successful.

During its installation of MAH officers 2014-2016, on 11/29/14 at the Pacific Beach Hotel, Waikiki, President Armi Oliver Farinas (2nd term) stressed: “Even during difficult economic times I’m prideful in what we have done.  OFCC had awarded MAH this year as one of the Ten (10) Outstanding Unit Organizations in Oahu, among 50+ organization members. Hence, fellow MAH members, let us move on and stride for more positive results!  Not just for MAH – but as a person.  Deep in our hearts, we must help for the benefit of many and not just to garner accolades and praises of people!  We must strive well, don’t spell!” She quoted “Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable…every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concerns of dedicated individuals.” (Martin Luther King, Jr.)

“Effective leadership is not about making speeches or being liked; leadership is defined by results not attributes.” (Peter Drucker) .  As your 2nd term President, I welcome initiatives and constructive suggestions.  Let’s move on, less talk but walk and work!  Be in our TEAM – Together Everyone Achieves More! MAH rocks!
